Female rock acts have always had a tough time. With rock being a predominantly male dominated genre, they either get viewed as guitar-toting totty, or try and butch it up and be "angry" like the boys. That's before we start talking about the obligatory power ballad about misdirected and unrequited love (Heart anyone?). Tiffany Gow neatly sidesteps these issues by neatly sidestepping the sexual politics that usually infest the female side of rock. Indeed, there is nothing shallow at all about the lyrical content of these tracks with the main topic being the routing of individual existential angst.

Powerful, thought provoking and inspiring. Tiffany gow makes you want to stand up for what you believe in and reach for your goals.

Song 1: Slave Symphony

"Don't you dare dream, don't you dare fight, you are told by society"

From the opening clean guitar arpeggio that leads into a thumping driving rhythm, your toe immediately starts tapping. The understated use of orchestral strikes underscores the catchy chord changes and give you an "Oh Yeah!" moment just before the killer chorus swirls you up and gently places you down again for the next ride. The mid section of the song really reminded me of Neighbourhood Threat by David Bowie, not in musical content, but in vibe.

This is my favourite song of the three. The lyrics are lucid and inspiring, identifying the rat race that we all fall prey to, and the struggle to exist beyond the preconceptions that we have had inbuilt by our parental and environmental conditioning.

Song 2: Nothing's Sadder

"Nothing's sadder than wasted talent"

As the beat stumbles into the main riff, the bassline pulls you down into the groove. Just as you are starting to think the song has nowhere else to go and this could be a dud the chorus surprises you with a strange harmonic guitar and vocal combo. Probably the weakest track of the three but an excellent track nonetheless. The final vocal line leaves you wanting more.

Song 3: No Fear

"Do it now....."

A power ballad with a twist. Both emotionally empowering and powerful, this track would not be out of place as the finale of a rock musical. You can almost hear the curtain falling on the final note.

The subject matter is similar to the other tracks - the questioning of "what are you waiting for? Why don't we all just go and attempt to reach what we aspire to". The brilliance of this approach is that it's a universal struggle we can all understand, and the message will not be lost on most people.

Review round up

Tiffany Gow is a strong artist who has a clear message. Do it now. Easier said than done maybe, but she is living proof that you can follow your dream and stay relevant to other people. Finally, a decent female rock act and the positive role model that hundreds and thousands of young girls are sorely in need of.

Rock on Tiff. You are cleared for stardom.

The oldest SAB profile reviewed as of yet, and they seem to have really got into the spirit of SellaBand since the opening of the forum. With them still under the $2000 its up to you to ask why?

I've always said that a good first song selection is probably the bets thing an artist can do. And Sheet Metal have chosen well here. The simple lyrics are catchy enough without the music behind it adding to the effect. Everything in this song works from the continuous beat to the backing vocals.

This is more the kind of music you would expect from an artist with the genre “hard rock” with probably the most unusual intros out there the song really does make an impression. The only thing i don't understand is why do they like London so much?! Well enough to make a song all about it! Its a lot more upbeat then “This is a warning” and i can imagine the great response from a crowd when its sung Live (Much more if they played in a club in London) The outro is very clever, using the guitar to replicate Big Ben is brilliant!

Another lively affair is My Name is Law a great intro really gets you pulled into the song. It just demonstrates the talent of Sheet Metal and proves that there is so much unknown talent in Sellaband. I have to say its my favourite song out of the three. Its a heck of a tune with a long instrumental section. The vocals really do match the lyrics that i had to listen to twice to really understand what they were about.

I'm glad that Sheet Metal have stayed active with SellaBand even though they have seen only small increases the amount of parts sold. To stay with their dream shows real commitment and that's what SellaBand is about. Their building up quite a fan base now and it will be hard to stop them. With the 3 amazing (and quite different when compared to each other) songs on their profile it won't take long until people listen and realise that these guys have talent.

I have noticed that my reviews are very rock and acoustic orientated i was just wandering whether anybody else would like to write reviews for this blog. If you want to apply to be an Author please comment on this post. Here is some criteria I'm looking for and what you'll need to be able to write the review

3 profile songs at time of review: When you go (new version), We've been around, Who do you find

the first thing that hits you when you first listen to Morris is wow what voice. Its what i call a Kane Sole moment! When you find an artist who has an amazing singing voice and deserves to be higher in the charts.

The first song , When you go, is a jazzy affair where all Morris is doing is showing off his amazing talent for singing and playing their instruments. Its a real ambient song with the music beautifully accompanying Morris' outstanding talent.

A we've been around a slower tempo song to that of When you go. That doesn't mean its a song you shouldn't listen to, in fact its a song your should definitely listen to! a very relaxing tune that's very easy listening. You can slip in a state of total relaxation and just forget all the things that you shouldn't forget but would like to.

My favourite song out the 3 i can just listen to it over and over again. Each word just hits you as the lyrics are so well crafted. Morris just pours in the emotion. Its really quite soulful. You really have to listen to this song as I'm finding it hard to put what i felt while listening to this song into words.

I've been saying a lot about how good a singer Morris is however his talented band do deserve a mention, the sounds are just so natural and they play them. The whole band does work really well together its like a duet but with vocals singing one part of the song and the instruments singing the other part. I wish the band all the best as I'm sure with the help from believers and them keeping active they'll reach the much deserved first place in no time at all.

3 profile songs at time of review: Blame, Check-Out, Drained

A band just below the $1000 mark after over 4 months, so i thought i would check them out! They seem to have a great tracks played, parts sold ratio. The first real “Rock” band I've reviewed and I'm quietly pleased i chose these!

The mix between tempos for the chorus and verse of the song Blame really is a great idea. Some nice solos hidden in there as well. The lyrics are well thought out as people can relate to them which adds more interest to the tune. Blame is a great way to start their profile the heavy drumming and strumming is typical of hard rock and i can imagine they certainly fill a room playing this one live!

I love this drumming intro for Check-Out, what a way to start a song. I wouldn't say it was as heavy as Blame which some people may enjoy better according to their taste. Theirs much more feeling in this song. I am told the lyrics are about a friend who passed away from diabetes. Its stands as a remarkable tribute to their lost friend.

The stutter start of Drained is unusual to say the least but is very effective in keeping the listener alert. Another slower tempo verse to the chorus makes to great listening once again. The vocals prevail throughout the chorus which is unlike the previous songs. Definitely a talented lead singer. It adds another layer to what people call a great song.

The Sundial Project are very talented musicians with some great solos hidden in the songs. It would be great if they could provide a live recording or video as i think this is where they will gain a fair few believers. They seem to have found the “big” believers already which means they obviously have talent its no just a case of playing the waiting game!

3 profile songs at time of review: Because of you, Deep Under, Why me

Easily the biggest band I've reviewed so far with over $1000 in parts already sold but they do deserve to be a lot further up the rankings in my opinion.

Because of you is a superb first song and they've chose well to put it as their first song on their profile. The electric rhythm and clever choice of lyrics make it truly a memorable song. Its just an all round amazing song. Its strangely catchy and has that "stick in your head quality" which meant i was humming it down the high street!

Deep Under is at a much slower tempo which is very instrumental. Still a very enjoyable song. The lyrics are unusable powerful for such a slow song, You build up a story in your head in what is going on. The long instrumental part in the middle gives you time to run the story and lyrics through your head.

like the first song 'Why me' is a much more upbeat. This is what I call Blues Rock. The chorus really does stand out especially on the first first "Wo-hoh". The saxophone solo just adds to the Blues effect. Its a repetitive song which ones again sticks in your head.

Altogether you can see why they have chosen the unusual choice of genre "Blues Rock" as that's exactly what they are, the music is both lively yet soulful. Lyrics that actually mean something. The thing about confused 5 is that you will see them around sellaband as they have the talent and just done so well in the short space that they've been with SAB. take a look at their profile to see what i mean.

They may have been on Sellaband for quite a while now however their amount of parts don't show it, very good music, however i may be a bit biased as i do love Acoustic music where you can hear each strum of the guitar!

I don't know whether putting two songs on each 'juke box' button, I know it may have worked with the likes of Mandyliegh but I'm not sure that the smaller bands should follow. From the bands i have seen its best to have the strongest song first then have a rotation of the two songs below that.

The only bad thing i can say about their first song 'Trigger' is the quality of the recording! its such a great song. It jumps right into the tune and the singing matches the music which is a hard task to accomplish. The second song 'No ones Land' isn't as powerful as 'Trigger' however its still a very well played song and well worth a listen.

The song 'Walls' doesn't include the same powerful voice as with the previous songs however its Acoustic quality does play a large part in enjoying the song. I'm sure that this particular song isn't to every ones taste but its. No Changes is probably my favourite song on their profile at the moment its upbeat and nice to tap your fingers to however its not as beautiful as 'Last Wave' which is a relaxing song that's full of emotion. This song deserves take that precious "first song" place on their profile, its the kind of song that just hits you and you end up reflecting on everything and anything.

The quality of the recordings means that we don't hear the "real" Plant! If they could just improve them they could maybe find themselves with a few more parts. The double songs is maybe a good idea at firts however it would be better if it was single songs with the best song (to me anyway!) 'Last Wave' at the top of the song list. They are much in need of some big-backers that can catapult them into maybe even the charts at some point, i just wish they could keep active so they can achieve their goal of the 50k

3 profile songs at time of review: Calling of Martha, Nowhere, My Sweetie Brother

This band already has a fan base with the highest amount of parts owned by one believer being set at a pretty high 20 parts. They've been on Sellaband little over a month now and are already making an impact.

The best song for me had to be "nowhere" its a very strong song that you can feel quite emotive towards. The echo effect really does add something to the song. Personally its one of my favourite intros i have ever heard. The way it builds up and keeps the rhythm of the song. If a new listener had to listen to any song by 0-Side i have to say that it should be nowhere (so i think it would be best to put this song first out of the 3 uploaded songs)

The song i disliked most was "calling of Martha" although it was another great musical intro, the singing at the start does sound weak it does inprove for the chorus but still continues on in the verses. the chorus is great and i can't say a bad word about it.

My Sweetie Brother is a much more up-tempo song that i presume is being sung in Italian (not totally sure as i don;t speak Italian) Having a song sung in a language other than English is a great move and more bands should do it. However not many bands do it well O-side on the other hand have done it brilliantly so congratulations guys. I felt like i could understand what was being said in the song and i didn't even speak the language. However for some reason at the end it just cuts out which is rather strange but I'm sure it will be rectified soon.

So thats all i have to say for O-side they are well worth a listen and maybe even a few parts or two! They look promising but they have a long road ahead and if they can just stay active on the road i'm sure we will have another 50K on our hands!

ok i'm sorry this is yet another sellaband blog...

however i'm sure we can fit just one more in! and what a name it has! This is going to have the usual information like news ect. and also the added attraction of being mainly focused at artists that aren't exactly well known shall we say!

i will do reviews on bands and artists and i'll provide you witha bundle of links so you can click your way through if you like them and so on.

Ohh yeah did i mention that all prophits from this blog goes towards the most commented artist that month! well you do now! so if there is a band that you like then comment (only one comment per user!) and that band could be seeing a few parts to brighten up their day!
